How do you use Astringents and Toners?

I've been trying to find a good skin care ritual. I have been using Clean and Clear Astringent for Sensitive Skin. It says to wipe on your face with a cotton ball or something, but it doesn't say rinse. I've been rinsing anyway.

So basically my question is. How do you use Astringent. Is it the same as toner. How do you use Astringents and Toners?
The first answerer covered all the essential bases, and I agree with her 100%.

However, I want to point out to you that astringents are usually very harsh! All the brands I have tried really dry me out. If you have the same reaction, try to remember to skip this part of your regimen every other day. Of course, if you are battling major oil, you probably won't have the same problem.

Best of luck! How do you use Astringents and Toners?
Nope don't rinse it off. Cleanse then rinse. Put on your toner then leave it to dry then use your moisuriser or repair cream and leave to absorb in. To get the most effective skin care routine use all three steps. If your skin is too oily or prone to break out a lot of people don't use a moisturiser but for the anti aging effects you really should! Try a moisture spray rather than a cream because the don't have heavy carier oils or creams so it will still give you moisture to prevent aging but won't be too heavy and give you break outs. Hope I helped!
Don't rinse and FYI, toner helps to make the skin look more even and astringent helps keep the poors clean deep down. Use both. DOn't rinse.
toner isn't normally as harsh as astringent. like loreal pure zone makes a good toner i think. and so do a bunch of others that don't dry out your skin...
Hey you should use the astringent after you wash with a cleanser.Use it on the cotton ball just wipe it around your face, and do NOT rinse away. After you use the toner/astringent you should moisturize with an oil free moisturizer, they have non brand products at wal mart.
